'They'll think I'm winding them up': Workmates win $4m lotto prize

A group of workmates have found themselves $4 million richer after becoming Australia’s only division one lotto ticket winners in the weekend’s Gold Lotto draw.

Colleagues at a manufacturing company in Brisbane’s Moreton Bay region had been in a long-time 20 person strong syndicate when they struck gold.

Each of the lucky employees scored themselves a life-changing $200,000.

Speaking with a Golden Casket official over the phone, the syndicate leader said: “I’m a bit shocked at the minute. I’m shaking.”

“I’m going to get all the staff together and tell them. I’m absolutely shell shocked,” she said.

“They won’t believe it! They’ll think I’m winding them up. This is just unbelievable and will change the lives of so many people who work here.”

The Lott said in a statement the excited woman, who took the call on her lunch break, couldn’t wait to tell her workmates the massive news.

“We’re always so happy when we get a little win, we usually go out for coffee but this is incredible!” she said.

“This is going to be enormous for everyone! It is unbelievable. We’ve even got one team member who is about to retire!”

She revealed the team would spend the rest of the workday celebrating their incredible windfall.

“I think there will be some tears. Then we will definitely be having some champagne to celebrate,” she said.
