The New Brunswick RCMP says it has laid a manslaughter charge in connection with a homicide that happened in a rural community this summer.

In a news release Wednesday, the RCMP said a 31-year-old man was charged in the death of Josh Crouse, 39, whose body was found in the driveway of a home in Lower Hainesville — about 50 kilometres west of Fredericton — on July 21.

Police found Crouse's body after members of the Nackawic RCMP detachment responded at about 8:20 a.m. to a report of a "sudden death" at a home on Central Hainesville Road.

The RCMP's major crime unit arrested the man in Keswick Ridge at about 6 p.m. on Tuesday.

He appeared in court on Wednesday, and was remanded until his next court appearance, scheduled for Oct. 1, RCMP said.
