Man's shocking reaction to being told to wear a mask by waitress

An anonymous post shared on social media has shown the dangerous extreme one man went to just to avoid wearing a mask in public amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Many US states have made wearing a mask in public mandatory and many private stores and restaurants are now requiring all customers to wear a face covering to keep staff and other customers safe, however, not everybody is willing to comply.

A post on Reddit has shared the experience of one a restaurant worker who claimed a diner tried to light two fires after she asked him to wear a mask while walking around the facility.

“The other day I asked this gentleman if he had a mask in his pocket as he walked past the bar without one… as I walked up to take his drink order I slid one of our disposable masks to him.

“As he stood up to tell me he was going to smoke, I said ‘that’s fine but if you’re up and moving I need you to wear a mask,’” the post read.

What she claims happened next left the waitress in disbelief.

“He started a fire on my bar with my tip. He tried to start a fire on the patio.

“I had to physically put out a fire over a f**king mask. I hate it here.”

Along with the post there were two photos, one image showed a disposable mask and US cash partly burned next to two bottles of beer on a bar, the other photo showed the man the woman claimed was responsible for it.

‘What’s wrong with people’: Outrage over mask incident

It’s unclear if the incident took place in a US state where masks are mandatory in public but Reddit users were disgusted in the man’s behaviour.

“Imagine getting so pissed off about wearing a little piece of cloth that you literally commit two acts of arson and risk endangering/killing civilians,” one person responded.

“I feel bad for her. What is wrong with people?” another person asked.

The poster reportedly said the police were called to the restaurant and arrived 45 minutes after the man had left to take a report.
