Man’s shocking act after finding car parked on his driveway

A farmer is accused of using his tractor to flip a car onto its roof after he found it parked on his driveway.

Elliott Johnson, the owner of the car, filmed the moment Robert Hooper, 57, used a tractor to move his Vauxhalll Corsa in Newbiggin-in-Teesdale, in England, on June 5 last year.

Mr Johnson's friend Charlie Burns is seen in the video kicking at the tractor as it pushes the car onto the road. The pair had been swimming earlier that day.

The tractor then swings around, hitting Mr Burns and knocking him to the ground.

The video has been used as evidence in a trial at Durham County Court.

Car had flat tyres and was waiting for help

Prosecutor David Ward told the court Mr Hooper had asked for the car to be moved from his property, BBC reported.

The court heard Mr Johnson told the farmer the car had two punctured tyres and he was awaiting help to get it removed.

Mr Ward said the pair decided the farm’s driveway was the safest place for them to park the car, the Mirror reported.

"It was a long driveway with an open field to one side, which they thought was the safest option,” Mr Ward said.

Mr Ward told the court the pair explained the situation but Mr Hooper “said he would move the car for them”.

He said Mr Hooper “went back to the farm and fixed loading equipment onto the front of his tractor, in effect a forklift device”.

But Mr Hooper claims the pair were aggressive with him and he was acting out of self-defence.

There were allegations Mr Burns was also intoxicated during the incident but he has disputed this and said he had six or seven bottles of Corona.

Mr Burns claims being hit by the tractor injured him and he is still undergoing physiotherapy.

Michael Rawlinson, acting for the defendant, told the court Mr Burns assaulted Mr Hooper and cut his lip.

“You started trouble that day,” he told the court.

Mr Hooper pleaded not guilty to dangerous driving and criminal damage.

He will face court again in the coming days.
