Man's remarkable reaction to winning Lotto for second time

A semi-retired Victorian man thought his wife was joking when she revealed his numbers had won the $4.1 million division one Lotto prize.

The man, from Narre Warren South, in Melbourne’s southeast, who held the only division one winning ticket in Saturday’s draw, said the win was too good to be true.

It was the second time he had won a division one Lotto prize, but the man says he has no plans of quitting work.

“I was at home and my wife checked my ticket on Sunday. She said to me ‘I think you’ve won Lotto’.

“I said to her ‘Oh right-o, sure thing love’ not believing her.

“That amount isn’t bad hey?” the man who wished to remain anonymous laughed.

When asked if a full retirement was on the cards after the windfall, the happy winner revealed he couldn’t fathom giving up his job.

“I’ll stay working until I die – I love my job!”

It was the second time in about 20 years the man claimed a division one TattsLotto prize, after winning as part of a syndicate some time ago.

“We got a good amount, but obviously not the amount we got this time!

“We must be the lucky ones!” he said.

Asked how he planned to spend the $4,169,740.14 TattsLotto windfall, the winner revealed it would go towards helping his family.

“I’ll probably set up a bit for the kids and the grandkids. I’m sort of semi-retired, but I haven’t really thought about it. We’ll find some good use for it,” he said.

The winning 18-game QuickPick entry was purchased from The Pines Lotto & Confectionery, at The Pines Shopping Centre, Doncaster East.

The winning numbers in TattsLotto draw 3875 on Saturday 8 September 2018 were 43, 24, 25, 19, 22 and 42, while the supplementary numbers were 4 and 14.
