'Very upsetting': Man's random attack on 92-year-old woman caught on video

A man has been arrested after video surfaced of him allegedly pushing a 92-year-old woman who fell to the ground before he walked off.

The New York Police Department shared video of the assault in Manhattan on June 12 at about 3.23pm in efforts to track the culprit down.

“He pushed a 92-year-old female to the ground causing her to strike her head on a fire hydrant,” the NYPD said.

NYPD added on Tuesday they had found the man responsible.

The elderly woman, named as Geraldine, told ABC7 she’s “frightened to tears”. She said she was on her way to a chemist.

"I'm not going to walk there on my own, and it's very upsetting. It's very upsetting,” Geraldine told the network.

The nonagenarian said she thought she had been hit in the head with a brick on the right side of her head.

Geraldine was hospitalised in a stable condition. She still has some bruising.

She’s OK though, but doesn’t plan on going out anytime soon.

The man, 31, accused of attacking her has been charged with assault.

He’s been identified as Rashid Brimmage according to to NBC New York.

The station reported he has 100 prior arrests with three for alleged assaults since February.

One of them included him allegedly punching a 39-year-old woman in the face at a bakery. He’s also a registered sex offender, CBS reported.
