Man changes his travel plans after huge Oz Lotto windfall

A lucky Melbourne Oz Lotto winner who pocketed more than $5 million in Tuesday night’s draw said he couldn’t stop “shaking and swearing” when he was told about his win.

When asked what he planned to do with his new fortune, the Melbourne man said there was one thing he planned to do differently in the future and it involved avoiding the masses when he travelled.

“I can’t think at the moment but I may not fly economy anymore!” he laughed.

The man, who wishes to remain anonymous said on the day he found out he won: “I swore about 20 times”.

“F***! I don’t have any words,” he said at the time.

The life-changing news was delivered by a phone call from The Lott just before the South Yarra man was about to head to work and he said it was going to take some time for the good news to sink in.

“I’m just home from the gym and I’m about to head to work. Clearly, I’m going to be running late today,” Australia’s newest multi-millionaire said during the call.

“I’ll need to calm down a bit,” he added.

The winner also told The Lott that he plans to live out the great Australian dream and say goodbye to his mortgage.

“I don’t think my day will get any better after this. I’ll be waiting patiently for that money to land in my account!” he said.

The man purchased his winning ticket online and held the only division one winning entry nationally in Oz Lotto draw 1357 drawn on Tuesday and took home the entire division one prize of $5,018,954.36.

In addition to winning division one, the man’s marked System 8 entry also scored division three 7 times and division seven 4 times, bolstering his total windfall to $5,051,885.21.
