Hunt for man after rock throwing attack puts teen girl in hospital

A teenager was hospitalised when a man allegedly hurled rocks at a group of young women in Melbourne’s southwest.

Victoria Police are now searching for a man they wish to talk to in connection with the attack in Wyndham Vale on September 25.

The woman, 19, says she was accompanied by two friends of the same age when a man with an orange bag started walking on the other side of the road at about 11.15am.

It is believed the man went into his bag to retrieve three fist-sized rocks before throwing them at the girls on Eureka Drive, police say.

One of the rocks struck the victim in the head knocking her to the floor. She was taken to hospital after sustaining a head injury.

Police have released CCTV still images of the man they would like to speak to.The man is perceived to be Caucasian in appearance with a shaved head, wearing a grey zip up top, dark pants and sneakers, and was carrying a large orange bag at the time of the attack.
