Manhunt steps up as police fear accused child sex offender is 'carrying guns'

A man wanted over child sex offences may be carrying guns, police have been told.

Police have released a photo of Joseph Lowe, 51, who is wanted over an arrest warrant for the offences, as part of an appeal to the public to help them find the man from western NSW.

It’s believed the Lightning Ridge man may have crossed the border and headed to north Queensland with police warning the public not to approach him but call triple-0 immediately if they see him.

Police have received information Mr Lowe may be in possession of firearms.

Officers from the Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad are seeking information from the community about Mr Lowe’s current whereabouts.

If sighted, members of the community are urged not to approach Mr Lowe. Instead, they should contact triple-0 immediately.

He is described as being of Caucasian appearance, 170cm tall, with a thin build, light brown hair, and hazel eyes.
