Manhunt sparked after attempted abduction
A teenager has narrowly escaped a harrowing abduction attempt in Melbourne’s inner south after an unknown man allegedly tried to force her into a car.
The 16-year-old had been walking on the corner of Hotham St and Denman Ave in St Kilda East at about 5.50pm on Wednesday, October 18, when the man approached her.
“He repeatedly asked her if she wanted to go somewhere with him,” Victoria Police said in a statement.
At one point the man grabbed the teenager’s arm and tried to force her into a white sedan with unknown registration.
The girl was able to break free from the man’s grip and run away.
She is not believed to have suffered any physical injuries in the incident.
Now, detectives have released a computer-generated image of a man who they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.
This man is described as being in his 20s or early 30s, about 179cm tall, with short black hair that was longer at the front and styled with gel.
He was seen wearing a navy T-shirt with a white PUMA logo on the front, and black pants.
Police have urged anyone who witnessed the incident, or anyone who might have dashcam footage or other relevant information, to contact Crime Stoppers.
