Manhunt after bike is torn in two in horror hit-and-run


A major manhunt is underway for a driver wanted over a horrorific hit-run that left a bike torn in two.

A 60-year-old cyclist riding to Adelaide for the Tour Down Under was struck and left to die in the state’s south east.

The cyclist was riding towards Murray Bridge on Thursday as part of the tour’s festivities but a vehicle fatally struck him and continued on.

A passerby found the victim just after 8am.

Major crash experts rushed to the scene. Fragments found there have provided them with vital clues.

At roadblocks, vehicles were checked for front-end damage while officers also searched from above.

The victim was riding with another cyclist who was not in the immediate area when the collision occurred.

The driver is being urged by police to hand themselves in.
