A man has been arrested after allegedly stealing and crashing a police van in Brisbane early on Tuesday morning.
Queensland Police officers were called to a property at Narangba, in the Moreton Bay region, at around 3.30am on Tuesday following reports of a man wielding a knife.
When they arrived at the scene, the man, 37, allegedly evaded officers, hopped into their van and drove away, before eventually crashing — and totalling — the vehicle in North Lakes, some 11 kilometres from the home.
He was able to remove himself from the wreck and ran away, but police caught up with him a short time later and placed him under arrest.
