Viral picture of husband's loving act on plane generates unlikely response

A seemingly innocent and sweet picture of a husband standing in the aisle on a flight has surprisingly divided the internet.

Courney Lee Johnson, a self-described entrepreneur and community activist, tweeted the now viral photo of the man on the plane.

“This guy stood up the whole 6 hours so his wife could sleep,” he wrote.

“Now THAT is love.”

In just three days, the photo has been retweeted over 3,000 times and ‘liked’ over 15,000

In the photo Mr Johnson shared to Twitter, it is clear the man is standing in the aisle between the rows of seats. His wife, is lying across all three of the seats.

While Mr Johnson may have seen this as an act of love, certain others on Twitter weren’t happy with the woman in the photo.

People called the woman ‘selfish’, comparing the situation to the scene in Titanic where Rose didn’t make room for Jack on the floating door, which resulted in him drowning.

“She couldn't just lie across HIM?! I won't judge their marriage. My hubs is the kind of man who would do this for me, but I am not the kind of wife to ask this of him!” one person Tweeted.

“I wouldn’t let my husband suffer like that, clearly there’s no love on her side,” one person said.

“I can't let my man stand for even 10 minutes,” another person said. “I'd definitely be sleeping on his laps which would even be more comfortable. Or rest properly on the chair. Why would you let your man stand for 6 hours?”

People suggested the wife should have rested her head on her husband’s lap.

While some people were doubtful the incident ever happened - saying Mr Johnson posted the picture for ‘clout’ - as he has not provided any additional information about the flight.

The only information to go off is Mr Johnson’s tweet - the reality is, there is no way of confirming whether the couple is in-fact a couple, or which flight this happened on.

“This is one of those stories which are too sensational to even be true,” someone tweeted.

“No flight details were offered, just a story written by a person who managed to get a picture online and found a romantic caption for it.”

Several people also pointed out most airlines would not allow someone to block the aisles for six hours, which suggests the situation wasn’t what Mr Johnson had described.

However, some people did take the photo at face value and shared Mr Johnson’s sentiment of a wholesome, loving husband.

“That is the ultimate love, but with a little travel experience...you know to just lay in his lap and then he can lay his head on your hips. There’s a formula lol,” one person tweeted.

“He’s better than me. My legs wouldn’t let me stand that long even if I wanted to. Lol,” Mr Johnson responded.

“Same. I’ve never been THAT in love...can’t wait to be so in love that I even consider that an option,” the person responded.

Other people just assumed the woman was unwell.
