Man stabbed in eye during argument over parking space

A man has suffered horrific injuries after he was stabbed in the eye during an argument over a parking space at a shopping centre.

The shocking incident took place at a shopping centre in the eastern Mexican state of Veracruz, after victim Domingo Munoz and another driver, named in reports as Armando Barragan, 47, began fighting over a parking space.

Local media report witnesses saw the other driver attack Munoz with a knife, stabbing him through his left eye, and images show Munoz standing in the car park with the blade sticking out of a bleeding socket.

Barragan, who works as a delivery man for Bimbo, the world’s largest bakery, said that Munoz had begun attacking him when he lost the parking space.

Barragan says he then pulled out a knife and stabbed the other man in the eye.

A video of the incident showed the two men arguing with a police car in the background and the knife can clearly be seen sticking out of Munoz’s eye.

Barragan was arrested while Munoz was taken to Veracruz General Hospital where doctors removed the knife which had pierced the left eyeball and the lower part of the right eye.

A scan taken at the hospital shows how the knife passed through the left eyeball and through into the lower half of the right eye.

Local media report Munoz lost his left eye in the incident but he is in a stable condition.

It is unclear if the suspect has been charged.
