Ottawa Police have charged a man with second-degree murder in a fatal stabbing that happened in the Byward Market on Thursday night.

Jean Paul Theragene, 31, of Ottawa appeared in court on Friday. He's accused of murdering 45-year-old Stephen Pedicelli of Montreal.

Emergency crews were called to an area roughly between Dalhousie Street and King Edward Avenue after 10:30 p.m., according to police and paramedics.
