Man smashes woman's car window in terrifying road rage incident

The man appeared to be wearing a knuckleduster when he smashed the window, according to a concerned witness.

Terrifying footage has emerged of a road rage incident on a busy freeway where a man punched the window of a woman's car, causing a witness to step in.

Ryan Papuga and his wife were driving along Mitchell Freeway in Perth's north when they saw the man in a white Toyota Camry doggedly start to tailgate the silver hatchback with a female driver and passenger.

“The guy tried to ram them off the road so she’s tried to get away, and as she got away he just followed,” Mr Papuga told 7 News.

However when she was forced to stop at a traffic light on the freeway off-ramp to Shenton Avenue, Joondalup, the incident violently escalated, leading to the driver and passenger being showered by glass shards.

“The second she stopped at the lights, that’s it, he was straight out the car,” he told 7 News. “I thought he had a set of keys in his hand because he smashed the window straight away. When you zoom in on the footage it actually looks like a knuckleduster.”

At this point, Mr Papuga gets out of the car to come to their aid and can be heard shouting at the man, who then retreats to his own car. "They looked pretty shaken up from what I've seen," he said of the driver and passenger.

It is unclear whether anyone was hurt. Yahoo News Australia reached out to WA Police who said they have no record of the incident.

According to research by Compare The Market in 2023, Queenslanders have witnessed the most road rage incidents in the country at 67.7 per cent, followed by Victoria at 66 per cent and then Western Australia at 64.8 per cent.
