Man shot in Sydney airlifted to hospital

A man has been airlifted to hospital in a stable condition after he was shot in western Sydney.

Emergency services were called to Barber Avenue in Penrith about 3.20pm to find a man in his early 30s with gunshot wounds.

The man was airlifted to Westmead Hospital, NSW Police said in a statement.

Police have established a crime scene and Barber Avenue is closed to vehicles as they investigate the shooting.
