Man shares shocking photo of child near train tracks
A man claims he was admonished when he confronted a man for letting a child hang his head over the edge of a train platform.
Tim Brown was standing on the platform of the Trowbridge Railway Station in the UK, when he snapped a photograph of a man who seemed oblivious to the potential danger.
He posted the picture to Facebook on Saturday, writing: “Absolutely unbelievable”.
Mr Brown said when spoke to the man, the response was, “the train’s not due.”
“When I pointed out there may be others ie. Freight, empties, unscheduled etc, the reply was: ‘The next one’s not till 16:38’.
“After speaking to the guard and explaining to the man that people are seriously injured and die doing this I was told (by the not so responsible adult) I was a do-gooder and the lad just wanted to look at the track… I can only try.”
The post, which has been shared more than 4000 times, has sparked disbelief and concern, garnering more than 2500 comments.
“The yellow line is there for a reason,” one person observed.
“Omg I wouldn’t let any child do that with a train there or not. He needs to learn to look after his son!!!” wrote another.
But perhaps the most pertinent observation came from David Routley, a freight train driver.
“As a freight train driver who drove a 1000 tonne train through this station yesterday morning, to see this scares me and shocks me to the core.”
According to Metro UK, British Transport Police are now looking into the incident.
