A man has been bashed and robbed after trying to sell an iPhone on Gumtree from his home in Adelaide’s west.
Akhil Allamkonda, 22, advertised an iPhone for sale on Gumtree and was met by two men at his Findon home on Thursday night when it went horribly wrong.
“The guys started beating me,” Mr Allamkonda said.
“They used their hands and a metal rod, like an iron rod, as well as one brick.”
The 22-year-old said he suffered injuries to his shoulder and head before stealing the phone.
SA Police described his assailants as African in appearance and aged in their 20s.
They also offered advice for anyone buying or selling items online.
“Arrange to meet the other person in a public place, such as a shopping centre or public car park to exchange the items,” police said.
“Ask for a receipt or some sort of proof of purchase.”
It’s not the first time Mr Allamkonda has been attacked either.
He works at a service station and came to blows with two people he claims were shoplifting.
They’ve since been arrested but the two men who stole Mr Allamkonda’s phone are still at large.
