Man named Beer caught drink driving


A man whose surname is Beer is due to be sentenced in July after pleading guilty to driving under the influence.

Police claim the man named Benjamin Beer, from Council Bluffs in Iowa, was found beside his car which was upside down in the early hours of March 16, The Daily Nonpareil reports.

The accident happened about a month before the 21-year-old’s birthday and police said he smelled like alcohol and had other signs of intoxication.

According to the publication a reporting officer said they met Beer on scene who, “immediately told me he was drunk and that his car was (messed) up.”

The 21-year-old is due to be sentenced in July.

Mr Beer also allegedly told police he was drunk while on the way to jail, and once there failed a number of sobriety tests.

FOX 42 KPTM reported at the time that he was booked on a charge of Operation While Intoxicated.

The 21-year-old is due to be sentenced on July 11 and faces having his licence suspended and could be fined.
