Man kneecapped in NSW Riverina shooting

A 30-year-old man has been kneecapped in a targeted shooting after a group of men armed with a gun broke into his remote NSW Riverina property.

Police found the wounded man in the early hours of Thursday after being called to the Tooleybuc property, 200 kilometres west of Deniliquin.

He has suffered gunshot wounds to both legs - one to the knee, the other to the calf - with a police spokeswoman telling AAP it was a targeted shooting.

The victim's attackers fled after the shooting, and Victoria Ambulance took the man to Swan Hill Hospital where he remains in a serious condition.

Officers from the Murray River Police District are investigating the incident.
