Man gave teenage girl ice before sexually assaulting her, court hears

A NSW teenager was sexually assaulted by a man after being given the drug ice along with alcohol and cannabis at a home in Sydney’s innerwest, police allege.

Manuel Michael Katsaros, 52, was arrested on Tuesday morning after an investigation by the state’s child abuse squad described as extensive.

It is alleged the 15-year-old victim was given ice and taken to a Marrickville home last month, where she was provided with more of the drug in addition to alcohol and cannabis.

There she was allegedly sexually assaulted.

Katsaros was charged with cause to take intoxicating substance to commit indictable offence and the aggravated sex assault of a victim under the age of 16.

He appeared in Newtown Local Court on Tuesday, where Magistrate Margaret Quinn granted an apprehended personal violence order prohibiting him from contacting the victim in any way.

Katsaros was refused bail and the matter was adjourned to July 17, when he is expected to appear via audio visual link.
