Man finds huge snake in toilet while going to bathroom

A man has come across a shocking find as he went to the bathroom.

While going to use the amenities at a company in Italy, he found a huge snake curled up in the toilet bowl.

The snake turned up in the town of Baveno, which is in the Piedmont region of northern Italy.

The man, who has not been identified, said he heard the snake starting to emerge from the toilet and eventually the entire animal curled itself around the interior of the toilet bowl.

He left the bathroom quickly and called the police.

Officer Daniele Bendinelli turned up together with animal expert Dr Tommaso Calligarich who managed to extract the reptile, but only after removing the toilet bowl.

The snake was identified as a female royal python (python regius) which had either been released or escaped into the sewer network of the building.

A snake catcher was called to the scene to seized the python. Pictured is the animal in the hands of a handler.

Italy’s Carabinieri Forestali, which are responsible for forestry and environmental matters, were notified, but said it would be difficult to track down the owner of the snake unless they came forward.

The animal meanwhile has been seized and an appeal has been made for the owner to claim it.
