Man's elaborate 'kidnapping' plot to avoid going to work

A man has admitted to faking his own kidnapping to get out of work.

Brandon Soules, 19, was found on February 10 by police near a water tower in Coolidge, Arizona, with his hands bound behind his back and a bandana stuffed in his mouth, according to local publications.

Soules told officers he had been kidnapped by two masked men in front of his home because his father has a large amount of money hidden around town.

He said the men knocked him unconscious and drove him around in a car before dumping him at the water tower.

Police found no evidence of his story on CCTV footage or any evidence of an assault. They also learned his dad did not have any stashes of cash.

Officers said Mr Soules admitted during an interview he made up the story because he didn’t want to go to work.

The 19-year-old was arrested on February 17 for making a false police report.

He was later fired from his job at The Tire Factory.
