Man faces prison for screening porn on giant electronic billboard at busy intersection
A man is facing six years behind bars after he streamed porn onto a giant electronic billboard at a busy Jakarta intersection.
The Indonesian man shocked nearby onlookers after he hacked into the system and played the video titled ‘Tokyo Hot’ for more than 10 minutes.
Jakarta police chief Mochamad Iriawan said the unidentified man admitted to the crime but is unsure what his motive was.
"The suspect claims he worked alone," Mr Iriawan said.
"But we are still investigating whether he was working alone, whether he had a particular motive, or whether he was just fooling around."
The 24-year-old man certainly orchestrated his plan at the right time too, showcasing the video at a gridlocked Jakarta junction during peak hour.
The conservative Indonesian authorities did not see the funny side of his antics, with the IT analyst arrested at his work office on Tuesday.
Indonesia has incredibly strict censorship laws when it comes to pornography and prohibit the “creation, distribution, selling, and rental of explicit materials”.
