Man escapes botched Vic car kidnapping

A man has escaped a botched kidnapping in Victoria's southwest, with his abductors on the run.

The victim, a 38-year-old man, was picked up in Hamilton by a woman driving a blue Holden Commodore sedan late on Friday night.

Police believe another man was hiding in the back and assaulted him before the car was driven to a petrol station, where the victim escaped and raised the alarm.

The Hamilton man suffered facial injuries and was taken to hospital.
