A man died, and a second man was rescued after they were washed off rocks while fishing on the New South Wales south Coast.

Just after 3.15pm on Sunday, emergency services were called to Moes Rock at Jervis Bay.

Police have been told three men were rock fishing when two of them were swept in to the water.

One of the men was able to be assisted back onto the rocks and has been taken to Shoalhaven Hospital for assessment.

The body of the second man, believed to be aged in his 20s, was found in the water and has since been recovered.
