Man drowns off NSW far north coast

A man has drowned while swimming at a beach on the NSW far north coast.

The 36-year-old was pulled from the water unconscious in Yamba on February 7.

CPR was performed by members of the public before lifeguards arrived on the scene.

The man, a dual citizen of France and Australia, was flown to Lismore Hospital before being transferred to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition.

He died on February 12.

A coroner's report will now be prepared.
