Driver charged with hitting, killing girl

A 19-year-old driver has been charged with manslaughter after a teenage girl was killed in a hit-and-run accident on Western Australia's south coast.

The 16-year-old girl was one of three pedestrians struck near Esperance early on Saturday morning. She died in hospital while a man and woman, both 18, suffered minor injuries.

The male driver has been charged with manslaughter and offences around failing to stop, and will appear in the Perth Magistrates Court on Sunday.
