Man dragged under car in hit and run

A man is fighting for his life in hospital after being dragged under a car in a hit and run in NSW's south.

Witnesses told police the injured man, aged in his 20s, was seen standing with an iron bar on the Lavington street before he was struck by a silver ford sedan at about 7pm on Sunday.

The man was carried some distance on the bonnet of the car before he fell and was then dragged under the car for several metres.

The male driver, who is thought to be known to the victim, sped away while paramedics treated the man at the scene before taking him to hospital where he is to undergo surgery.
