Man donates 67 per cent of his liver to former teacher
A medical graduate has donated 67 per cent of his liver to save a beloved primary school teacher he had as a boy.
Chen Ze Rong, 25, met his former teacher Liang Feng Pin when he attended primary school in Kuantan in eastern Malaysia.
He was also in the same class as Ms Pin’s daughter, Zheng Zi Jing, and the pair were close pals, according to reports.
When Mr Rong discovered that his old teacher needed a liver transplant, he stepped forward to help.
According to local media, the operation was a success and they are both recovering in hospital.
Mr Rong is reportedly experiencing jaundice, but doctors believe he will improve as his liver begins to regenerate.

While Mr Rong is expected to leave hospital in seven days or less, Ms Pin will remain there for at least one month, depending on her recovery.
Doctors said that the first six months after such an operation are the most crucial.
Fortunately, Ms Pin’s body has not rejected her former student’s liver.
The teacher’s daughter said on social media that her mother is on life support, but is breathing unaided and recovering well.
She also thanked her old friend, calling his sacrifice “miraculous” and that she would never have imagined that Mr Rong would be the person to save her mum’s life.
