Man dies after truck bursts into flames
A man has died after his semi-trailer rolled and burst into flames on a key Sydney motorway overnight.
Police and emergency services were called to the M7 Motorway at 7.30pm on Thursday after the truck caught fire near the off-ramp at Cecil Hills in Sydney’s southwest.
The driver, believed to be in his 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene after fire crews raced to extinguish the blaze while he was trapped inside the gravel truck.
He is yet to be formally identified.
It’s understood that there were no other vehicles or people involved in the accident; however, traffic delays should be expected on the motorway throughout Friday morning with a reduced speed limit of 60km/h put in place for northbound motorists.
NSW police urge anyone with information and dashcam footage to come forward or call police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 as inquires continue.
