Man dead after being struck by vehicle in Scarborough

A man has died after being struck by the driver of a vehicle in Scarborough on Saturday, Toronto police say.

Police have not released the victim's identity but say they believe he's in his 60s.

Emergency services responded to reports of a pedestrian being struck near Sheppard Avenue East and Silver Maple Gate just after 5:30 p.m.

It's not immediately clear what led to the collision.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene and the driver remained on site, police say.

Roads in the area were closed for the investigation but have since reopened.
