Man cleared of raping pregnant girlfriend while she was in labour

A British man who was accused of raping his pregnant girlfriend while she was in labour after telling her he felt 'horny' has been found not guilty.

Prosecutors told Hull Crown Court the man, who has not been named for legal reasons, ignored his girlfriend's pleas to stop having sex with her.

After a five-day trial, a jury cleared the man in just half an hour, according to the Daily Mail.

Prosecutor Michael Greenhalgh told the court the soon-to-be mother and her partner had gone to bed, but while he fell asleep after labour began at 11.30pm, she stayed awake.

“In order to try and relieve the pressure and the pain of the contractions, she got onto all fours because she had been told that was a way of relieving the pain,” Mr Greenhalgh said.

“She was in that position when the defendant woke up. He saw her naked on all fours and said "I feel horny", to which she replied "are you serious?”

“The defendant then got behind her and started having sex with her.”

Mr Greenhalgh said he had ignored her pained cries and continued despite her making it clear she did not consent.

The man denied the pair had sex.

Hours later the woman gave birth to their baby, but later concluded she could not forget the incident after the man allegedly behaved poorly with the newborn.

The woman reported the alleged rape to family and police shortly after returning home from hospital.
