Man claims 'police buggy' almost ran him off the road

A man has filmed what he claims to be a NSW Police buggy almost running him off a dirt road in the state’s southwest.

Matthew Gibbons was driving along Wombeyan Caves Road on Saturday when he filmed a buggy coming around the corner from the opposite direction.

The buggy, which has ‘police’ markings on it, appears to turn the corner at high speed – almost into the path of Mr Gibbons’ vehicle.

“They’re police aren’t they?” a woman says.

A NSW Police spokeswoman would not confirm if the buggy in question was a police vehicle.

“Police are aware of the video, and we’re making enquiries,” she said.

Mr Gibbons wrote on Facebook, the buggy “almost ran us off the road”.

“Great use of taxpayers money,” he wrote on Facebook.

He also claims there were “drift marks all the way down the gorge”.

His video has more than 90,000 views with many angered by the reckless driving.

“So stupid,” one man wrote.

“Could have been bad if the 4×4 was going any faster.”

However, many have suggested the vehicle isn’t a NSW Police buggy.

One woman wrote the vehicle is the wrong colour and included a picture of a blue NSW Police buggy which is blue. The buggy in the video is white.

Others pointed out the police weren’t in uniform or wearing helmets.
