Husband of cancer patient slams anti-vaxxers in furious TikTok videos

A man has taken aim at anti-vaxxers after his wife, who is battling cancer, was asked to leave the hospital, because they needed the space for Covid patients.

On TikTok, Jason Arena, who goes by the handle @speakthetruth101, shared some perspective on why he thinks to Covid situation is "out of control", with hospitals being inundated with unvaccinated Covid patients.

In a video shared earlier in August, he explained he had to take his wife to the hospital. She has stage four breast cancer and was "dealing with some symptoms" and was in pain.

"She was in there for two days, on the third day she honestly should have stayed one more day, maybe two more days," Mr Arena said.

"But on the third day, instead of draining her fluid and what they wanted to do, they had to just, they told us that she had to be discharged, because they had no room left in the hospital because of Covid."

Lagging vaccination rates and the Delta variant have led to a surge in Covid cases in the US, leaving health systems overwhelmed.

More than 198 million Americans have received at least one dose of a Covid-19 vaccine, or 70 per cent of those who are eligible, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Just under 60 per cent of Americans 12 and older are fully vaccinated.

Mr Arena had a blunt question for those who are against the Covid-19 vaccine, in the wake of his wife being asked to leave the hospital.

"If you really f**king think that Covid is not real and you really believe that's not a big deal and you really believe that you don't need to get the vaccine that is your f**king right," he said.

"Okay, I'm not going to argue with you about that. What I am going to argue with about, is you running to the f**king hospital once you get the virus.

"If you don't trust the medical field to prevent you from getting it, why do you trust them to cure you from?"

He said people like his wife are being "kicked out" of hospitals because some people are "too stupid" to get the vaccine.

In a follow up video, he says the health care costs will increase, as anti-vaxxers continue to get sick with Covid and fill up hospitals.

"This is going to lag on for decades, there's long haulers who are going to be dealing with heart problems, brain problems, lung problems," he said, referring to people dealing with long-lasting effects of Covid after beating the virus.

He's also made videos about how he has witnessed first-hand the strain hospitals are under amid the surge in cases.

He said a cancer patient and anyone who needs urgent care could be left waiting hours in the ER to get treatment.

Mr Arena has set up a GoFundMe for his wife's treatment.

"Help comes in many ways, just simply sharing the post will help bring awareness to this relentless monster attacking my family," he wrote on the GoFundMe.

"Honestly, I wouldn’t wish this on my worst enemy, god bless all of you and please keep us in your prayers."

In the most recent update, he explained his wife, Marilyn, now requires a permanent catheter to help relieve her pain and symptoms.
