Man charged after towing motorboat with mobility scooter

A man has been charged after towing a motorboat along a busy NSW highway with a mobility scooter.

The 35-year-old male was caught by police pulling along the five metre vessel along the busy M1 Pacific Motorway at Belmont on October 19.

Officers responded to reports of the man’s activity from bemused witnesses.

Police attached to the Lake Macquarie Highway Patrol made a number of inquiries in relation to the matter.

On Tuesday the man was charged by way of a Future Court Attendance Notice for driving whilst disqualified, use unregistered vehicle on road, use uninsured vehicle on road, and use unregistered trailer on road.

The man is due to appear in Belmont Local Court on January 9.
