Man charged after 'slapping' step-daughter's 12-year-old bully

A man, who was reportedly sticking up for his 12-year-old step-daughter against school bullies, has been charged after slapping a boy in the face.

James Olander Peace, 37, was arrested and charged with injury to a child, however his wife told ABC Houston station KTRK the court records do not tell the whole story.

The man’s wife, who wished to remain anonymous, claims her daughter was bullied by a classmate and another child while walking home from her school in Texas, US.

She told KTKR her daughter called her stepdad to come and pick her up and take her home.

The woman said her daughter told her husband the bullies teased her for having an “ugly” body, and called her a “transvestite”, then threw ice cream at her and picked up rocks to throw.

The girl told police she and her stepfather saw the youths on the way home from school, so her step-dad confronted them, according to the probable cause affidavit.

She saw her stepfather slap the schoolboy in the face but “didn’t think it was that hard of a strike”, she told police.

The boy reportedly took a photo of himself after the incident, which showed “an obvious large handprint on the left side of his face that was extremely red and appeared to be swelling,” according to the affidavit.

Mr Peace threatened the boy not to tell the police or he’d beat him up, court records say.
