Man charged over series of creepy messages sent to women


Police have charged a man after a series of sexually explicit handwritten letters were sent to a group of businesses across Victoria.

The inappropriate letters were sent to businesses in the Coburg, Torquay, Anglesea and Essendon areas in January 2018.

The man allegedly wrote approximately 12 letters to at least four women. The letters ranged up to 10 pages in length, police said.

They were followed by a series of inappropriate phone calls to female staff members at the same businesses.

Fawkner Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation Team detectives discovered that previously unsolved incidents of a similar nature dated back to January 2014.

Police called for for the public’s help in July and released chilling details of the voicemail messages left by the alleged serial stalker.

Detectives have arrested a 68-year-old Bellbrae man and charged him with eight counts of stalking.

He has been bailed to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 1 November.
