A 34-year-old man armed with two saws has been arrested and charged in Adelaide after he allegedly threatened the staff of two different retail outlets on Tuesday to steal cigarettes and a bottle of alcohol, police says.
Police received a first call at 2.45pm on Tuesday to investigate the robbery of cigarettes at a service station on Greenhill Road, located at the southeastern Adelaide suburb of Linder Park.
About 45 minutes later, police were called again to a hotel on Glynburn Road, not far from the first incident reported.
The alleged offender was holding two saws in both outlets.
No staff were physically injured during these incidents, police reported.
A bit after 7.30pm on Tuesday evening, an Arthur Street resident reported a man behaving oddly, which triggered police to locate the man suspected to having carrying out both thefts.
He was arrested and charged almost 6km away from its alleged offences and was refused bail.
He will appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
