Man charged with attempted sexual assault
A man has been charged after allegedly attempting to sexually assault a woman in Sydney’s CBD.
It’s understood a 31-year-old woman was walking on St Mary’s Rd in central Sydney about 11.50pm Tuesday evening when a man allegedly attempted to sexually assault her.
Officer attached to Sydney City Police Area Comman launched an investigation. Following inquiries, detectives arrested a 47-year-old man at Surry Hills Police Station, where he was charged with take/detain person with intent to obtain advantage, stalk/intimidate with intent to cause physical harm, and attempted sexual intercourse without consent.
The 47-year-old was also wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant for breaching a community corrections order.
He was refused bail and is set to appear before Downing Centre Local Court today.
