Man charged after naked, bleeding 'torture victim' walks down street yelling for help
Police have charged a 52-year-old with harming an individual and depriving him of liberty after a man was found wandering a street naked, covered in blood.
A man believed to be in his 40s was found walking near the intersection of Orrong Road and Wright Street, east of Perth, on Friday about 8.30pm.
Witnesses said he was yelling for help and claimed he had been tortured, 10 Daily reported.
About 6pm on Sunday, officers from the Regional Operations Group, Belmont Police and Cannington Police, executed a search warrant at a residence in Daly Street, Belmont.
“At the address a 52-year-old man was arrested and several items of interest to the investigation were seized,” a statement from police said.
“Cannington Detectives attended the residence and the arrested man was subsequently taken to Cannington Police Station.”
The man was then charged with deprivation of liberty and two counts of unlawful act or omission with intent to harm, police said.
He was refused bail and is due to appear in the Perth Magistrates Court on Monday.
The investigation is ongoing.
