Police say emergency services were called to Claymore at about 3.20pm on Friday to find a 36-year-old man with a stab wound.

He was taken to Liverpool Hospital where he remains in a critical but stable condition following surgery.

Police say the violence may have been the result of a love triangle.

A short time after the stabbing police in Claymore located and arrested a 37-year-old man who had sustained a laceration to his cheek.

After treatment in hospital he was charged with malicious wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and was refused bail to attend Parramatta Bail Court on Saturday.
