'Living legend': Man's incredible phone catch on rollercoaster

It’s a catch from behind even Australian wicketkeeper Tim Paine would be proud of.

Remarkable footage shows the moment an unsuspecting Kiwi stretched to his right to catch a stray mobile phone while flying through the air at 134km/h at the top of a rollercoaster.

Samuel Kempf was riding the Shambhala rollercoaster at Port Aventura theme park in Spain when he noticed another thrill-seeker several rows in front drop their iPhone X.

In the clip he can be seen waving his arms in the air as the ride hurtles along its track before spotting the phone heading towards him.

He reaches out at full stretch and catches the device before erupting in celebration.

So pleased with his heroic catch, he even shakes hands with the man behind mid-ride and waves the phone in the air in celebration.

Once off the rollercoaster, Mr Kempf spotted the phone’s owner frantically searching for his device.

"He couldn't believe it, he gave me a big hug," Kempf told Stuff after handing it back to him.

He said a crowd had gathered at the ride’s counter where people were re-watching the catch over and over.

“Everyone started cheering and clapping when it happened,” he recalled, noting the thankful owner bought the clip for him.

Mr Kempf uploaded his remarkable catch to YouTube where his clip has since been viewed over four million times.

“In all my years on the internet this is probably the coolest s*** I’ve ever seen,” one person wrote.

“You win the internet today, my friend,” another declared.

“Sir you're a living legend! Hats off,” one claimed.
