A man allegedly carrying an axe and a knife has been nabbed by police at an Anzac Day dawn service in South Australia.

There was a strong police presence at all dawn services around the state, an SA Police spokesman told Yahoo News Australia.

He said no one was at risk during the incident and it was not terrorism related.

The 41-year-old was arrested and was charged with two counts of carrying an offensive weapon.

The spokesman said the man may have minor mental health issues.

He was granted bail to appear in Port Adelaide Magistrates Court in June.
