‘Single? Date Mark’: Man buys billboard in an effort to get a date

A single man desperate to land a date has splashed out nearly $1000 to ensure potential suitors are aware he’s on the market.

Mark Rofe took the extreme measure of paying for a giant billboard in the centre of Manchester, UK, to advertise himself as single after he became disgruntled with modern day dating apps such as Tinder.

“All my friends are getting married, and I’m struggling to get a date,” Mr Rofe, who lives in the nearby city of Sheffield, reveals on his website.

The 30-year-old paid £425 ($840) to advertise his website where interested women can submit an application to date Mr Rofe.

Appearing on Channel Nine’s Today show on Monday morning, the self-proclaimed “extremely handsome” single, even tried to woo newsreader Tracy Vo.

“I don't know how you want to do it Tracy? I can come to you or you can come here,” he said, albeit tongue-in-cheek, when asked if he’d consider dating an Australian.

The giant 3m by 6m billboard features a photo of Mr Rofe posing as he lies on the ground.

“Single? Date Mark. This could be the sign you’ve been waiting for,” he explains.

Mr Rofe revealed he has so far had over 1000 applicants and is adamant the love of his life is among them.
