Man’s body found in surfboard bag

A woman is in custody for the alleged domestic violence murder of a man.

NSW Police arrested and charged the 35-year-old woman after a man’s body was discovered in a surfboard bag in the driveway of a rural property in Darkwood, about 67km west of Coffs Harbour, in the North Coast region of the state.

Emergency services attended the property on Thursday about 7pm on reports a body had been found there.

Officers from the Coffs and Clarence Police District found the body of a 62-year-old man in the bag.

A crime scene was established and the police launched Strike Force Nome to investigate the death.

“Following extensive inquiries, about 2.10pm yesterday, officers attached to Mid North Coast Police District arrested a 35-year-old woman on Loftus Street, Nambucca Heads,” the police said on Saturday.

“She was taken to Macksville Police Station where she was charged with murder (domestic violence).

“Police will be alleging in court the woman and man were known to each other.

“She has been refused bail overnight to appear at Port Macquarie Local Court today.”
