A man was found seriously injured on a motorway in what police believe may have been a hit-and-run.

It happened on the northbound M3 between junctions 12 and 11 shortly before 14:20 BST.

Hampshire Constabulary said early-stage investigations suggested he may have been "involved in a collision with a vehicle which did not stop at the scene".

The man, aged in his 30s, has been taken to hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries.

The carriageway north of Chandlers Ford was closed for several hours, with two lanes reopening just before 17:30 BST.

Police are appealing for witnesses or dashcam footage that might help with the investigation.
