Man attacked by shark at remote beach

Authorities are investigating a shark attack off the coast of Western Australia on Wednesday afternoon.

A 25-year-old man was bitten by a shark at Gum Tree Bay north of Leeman in Western Australia.

St John's Ambulance was called at around 2.30pm and the state's Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) was investigating the attack.

A spokesperson for St Jon's Ambulance told Yahoo News Australia the man was attacked below the knee and he suffered a 20cm laceration.

He is currently in a stable condition.

The man is being taken to the Leeman Nursing Post, from there he will be transported to Perth.

DPIRD was alerted to the shark bite at 2.44pm and is currently working with local authorities and people. are advised to take extra care in the Gumtree Bay area.
