A man has been accused of stabbing his date to death before raping and killing her 12-year-old daughter.
Aleksey Zhdanov, 35, is accused of murdering a woman identified only as Olga, 36, two years ago after the pair met at a grocery store in the town of Nizhny Tagil in the Sverdlovsk region of Russia, local news publication E1 RU reported.
The single mum invited him over for some drinks, but when he allegedly became aggressive she asked him to leave her home.
Zhdanov allegedly then grabbed a knife and stabbed Olga to death before breaking into her daughter’s room.
He is accused of raping the 12-year-old and strangling her with an iron power cord.
Their bodies were found by a family member the next day.
Police only recently identified Zhdanov through DNA analysis, E1 reports.
The 35-year-old was jailed for six years in 2019 for car theft.
“The suspect killed the woman by stabbing her multiple times in the neck and chest,” a spokesperson for the Russian Investigative Committee of Sverdlovsk region told The Sun.
“After that, he raped the child then strangled her to death with an iron power cord to get rid of a witness.”
